2024 Paris Paralympics Set Record with Nearly 5,000 Athletes, Including 2,000 Women; Cambodia's Sole Representative Competes

Phnom Penh: The 17th edition of the Paris Paralympic Games 2024 has brought together nearly 5,000 disabled athletes, including almost 2,000 female athletes, marking a historic milestone with the highest number of participants in the 60-year history of the Paralympics.

China leads the delegation count with 282 disabled athletes, the highest of any participating nation. Host country France follows with 239 athletes, the largest delegation from the European Union. The games feature 22 sports across 549 events, taking place at 18 venues. Ticket sales have reached 2.5 million, demonstrating strong public interest, according to reports from vietnamplus.

Cambodia will be represented by Van Von, the nation’s sole athlete with a disability competing at the Paris Paralympics. Van Von's participation is conditional, and he is set to compete in the Heat qualifiers of the 100-meter T54 event on September 4 at 3 pm Cambodian time, as reported by the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia (NOCC).

The 2024 Paris Paralympic Games are scheduled to run from August 28 to September 8, celebrating the spirit of resilience and competition among athletes from around the globe.
